| In that case, we need to make sure the manufacturer can produce a few batch in advance... but How much???? |

sorry chaps there are some crossed wires here, the post you all have read which goes:
I race 1/10 electric cars every Friday night at West Bridgford school so if anyone fancies coming along to see what it's like, let me know. My mate Rob (who's been karting with us before) has an MX-5 as it happens but I dunno if it's in a race-ready state.
Edited to add: In fact I forgot to mention that Rob is the chairman of the West Bridgford club so if you needed a venue, we could probably sort it out. I'll have a word with him.
actually starts, bill i've just been looking at this thread on NEM's branch forum, heres what one chap had to say ,
its not me that does the racing, but a member from NEM, i meant to have a drive down one night and watch them race and perhaps have a chat,
however i would be more than willing to have ago at driving if req'd, the mx5 shells you refer to are available on ebay

Before we all get carried away with Tamiya just pause a moment and cast an eye over this. New from HPI
RTR (Ready to Run) so its complete and ready to go out of the box at £89.99 Very impressive for the money and well worth more than a passing thought. Its not cheap toy like either its quite a good chassis!
Details http://www.mirageracing.com/product/MV12204,
Draw back is the bodyshell, comes with one but not an MX5 of course and the wheelbase is to long to fit the Tamiya MX5 shell, the Tamiya MX5 on M-04M chasiss is 225mm. Apart from the bodyshell problem this would be ideal from a cost point of view. £90 and a couple more batteries and bits etc.
Tamiya option would have to be 2 or more kits from Ebay (second for spares etc because its no longer in production) then the cost of the radio gear etc on top (for those that haven't got any) this takes the total to way past £170 taking into account the one on ebay costs £25 for postage and they don't offer discounts for multiple orders
Two model shops that I have spoke to suggested a possible option/solution
Advertise and promote the seires with the Tamiya model painted in the MX5 Owners club livery if required but use the HPI model with a mazda RX8 shell for eg (plenty available and in production) but painted again with the MX5 Owners club livery. This is a common practice used by other real car clubs apparently that race RC.
Or we just make our own bodyshells to fit !
Anyway just a thought.
Right off to mend sticking calipers again! |
