Induction KITHi Guys,
I'm going to fit a dynamic Induction KIT tomorrow. Similar to this one:
http://www.europerformance.co.uk/...manufacturer=green;sub_category=1
It has also tube to bring cold air (denser so better yield )
hummm Will see how it goes

are you expecting much power gain Bill, 10 - 20bhp
i'm looking to mount my pipercross inside an air box then run some ducting from the box directly to one of the air intakes on the front of the car, to try and get more cold air through the filter.

I think if you get 5bhp, that will be good... I think the best advantage is the throttle answer... it makes the engine freer to suck the needed air without restriction...
I'm expecting more from the combinaision Dynamic induction/bigger throttle body/Sport exhaust line.
To get 15/20 BHP extra, you would need to modify the valves, valves seats, cams, vernier etc... But there, I m not an expert. The "Cobra manufacture lad" would be a better adviser.

Induction stuffBill/Chris..i went thru the induction kit stage with mine but was not impressed and finished up putting the original kit back on with a K and N filter and the engine was back to its smooth responsive self...great noise from the induction kit but that was about it.
But good luck with yours..you have probably bought a more expensive one than i did..it was a Typhoon kit only £120 but i got my money back on Ebay....Cheers Stu

Your kit (as I mentionned at a sunday run) wasn't a dynamic induction kit. This type of air inlet works only if the engine breathes a O2 denser air.
If you enclose the cone in the proper box and put some ducting to take fresh air, you get more O2 so the combustion is better yield.
If you do a system as the typhoon, you put the cone next to the exhaust manifolt (one of the hottest place in the engine bay) so the air is less dense therefore, the engine gets less O2 and combustion yield is poor.
People who put a straight cone on Caterham, elise, MGF have found it make it worse. Add a box to insulate the intake and take the air from outside is the only thing you can do (or supercharged it )

Here is a well know website in Kserie community

IMO, if somebody wants to modify the induction of a mx, she/he should go for this assembly style:
http://www.itgairfilters.com/maxo...ems.asp?section=maxogen&ID=21
and add some ducting to take fresh air for outside
This is useless without that: +

thanks bill i do remember your advice, and it was much appreciated at the time, my point was that when i resorted back to the factory setup the car went much smoother and the typhoon was soon in the skip. mazda as other car companies spend lots of money developing such things as induction so my motto now is leave alone if its working and enjoy the 138 bhp i have on tap, with a car so light thats ample.happy motoring... stu...

that's what I did on my MK1. I think you you check with ITG if they make a panel filter for mk1
Regarding dynamic induction, I had a look at the IL system (copy if Jackson Racing) and it seems to do a good job.

Yep I remember U said that too As far as I remember Mazda engine is much more refine than the Rovers... There is one thing to keep in mond Manufacturers invest a lot of money to make to car performances good enough for the majority of people.
This doesn't things cannot be improved but things have to be approached carefully...
